THE TIRE RIM DRIVER PROFILE: MORGAN SHEPHERD

    Morgan Shepherd grew up in Ferguson NC. 70 miles from
Winston-Salem NC. Morgan's first race came at Hickory speedway driving the #93 car. he finished 19th. 1981 was when Morgan best year in the sprint cup series he got his first nascar series win at Martinsville, and in that year Morgan won 1 pole in the same year. In 1994 Morgan had 16 top 10's and 9 top 5's, but still no win. Morgan's last nascar cup win came at the spring race at Atlanta in 1993 Morgan started 7th that day. He drove the #21 Wood brother's ford.

Morgan's nascar nationwide series career (former bush series) started in 1982. At age 40 Morgan won 2 nascar bush series races they came at Indianapolis raceway park and at Hickory speedway. Morgan drove for Ed Whitaker, and in that same year Morgan got 2 pole's those came at Hickory and Bristol. Today Morgan owns his own racing team called Victory In Jesus and owns the #89 car in the nascar nationwide series. Morgan drove the #21 for RCR for several races in 2010, and Johnny Chapman filled in for Morgan in the #89 car. Morgan ran 27 races in 2010 and did not qualify for 7 races. Morgan finished 28th in nascar nationwide series points this year in 2010.

KEVIN CONWAY WINS THE 2010 NASCAR SPRINT CUP RAYBESTOS ROOKIE OF THE YEAR

       On Sunday afternoon Kevin Conway won the 2010 Raybestos rookie of the year. Kevin drove the #37 Extenze ford for most of the season, and then left from front row motor sports, and then drove for Robby Gordon's #7 car for the other half of the 2010 season. Kevin raced in 28 of the 36 nascar sprint cup races, and had a season average start of 40.2, and an average finish of 32.6. Kevin Conway made his first nascar top 3 series career start in the nascar nationwide series at Atlanta in 2003. Kevin started 27th position, and finished 33rd, and Kevin's best finish in the 2010 season was 14th at the Summer Coke Zero 400 at Daytona.

JIMMIE JOHNSON WINS NASCAR SPRINT CUP CHAMPIONSHIP

Jimmie Johnson won the sprint cup series championship for his 5th straight time yesterday at Homestead speedway over Denny Hamlin by 39 points. This season Jimmie Johnson had 6 wins, and 17 top 5's, and an average finish of 12.2 this year. Jimmie Johnson's last win came at Dover back in the fall race beating Jeff Burton by 2.637 seconds. This year's battle to the championship was between Jimmie Johnson, Denny Hamlin, and Kevin Harvick. Denny Hamlin came close to winning the championship last year but Jimmie Johnson pulled away with the Championship points in 2009 and, wasn't a battle last year. This weekend at Homestead Denny Hamlin was involved in a early race wreck with very light damage to the splitter and, the fast work by Denny Hamlin's pit crew kept him on the lead lap all day long and Denny Hamlin came back to finish 14th. Kevin Harvick finished 3rd place, and 2010 nascar sprint cup series championship winner Jimmie Johnson finished 2nd at Homestead. Carl Edwards went on the win the nascar sprint cup race sunday afternoon at Homrstead.
