Last weekend was the NASCAR Nationwide series race at Michigan Carl Edwards beat NASCAR Nationwide series regular, and team mate Ricky Stenhouse Jr. for his 33rd NASCAR Nationwide series career win. Ricky Stenhouse Jr. this season who has won his first NASCAR Nationwide series win earlier of this year. Kyle Busch finished 3rd on Saturday at Michigan he did not lead any laps during the race. This week for the NASCAR Nationwide series race will be held at Road America this weekend, and will be a stand alone event while the Sprint cup series will be at Sonoma California. Only one NASCAR Sprint Cup series regular will race this weekend in the NASCAR Nationwide series race at Road America, and that is Carl Edwards. Jacques Villenuve will take over the number 22 Discount Tire Dodge for this weekend as Brad Keselowski will elect to focus over on the Sprint Cup series side. NASCAR Nationwide series points after Michigan 1st Ricky Stenhouse Jr. +2 2nd Elliott Sadler -- 3rd Reed Sorenson -2 4th Justin Allgaier -- and 5th Aric Almirola --. My pick to win this week at Road America is last year’s winner Carl Edwards.
This weekend the NASCAR Sprint cup series is off to Sonoma California for some Road Racing action as last year’s winner 5 time champion Jimmie Johnson will be the favorite this weekend at Sonoma. Last weekend at Michigan Jimmie Johnson struggled after spinning out early in the race Jimmie finished 27th and only one lap down. Denny Hamlin won the race beating Matt Kenseth to the line by 0.281 sec. Kyle Busch finished in 3rd place. Some race stats from Sunday’s Sprint Cup race 200 laps of 200 laps were completed. Five cautions for 18 laps under yellow. 12 race leaders for 22 different lead changes were made. 43 cars started the race 25 of those finished on the lead lap. Average speed was 153.035 mph. The total time elapsed during the race was 2 hours 39 minutes and 11 seconds. Points standings after this weekend’s race 1st Carl Edwards -- 2nd Kevin Harvick +2 3rd Dale Earnhardt Jr. -- 4th Kyle Busch +1 5th Jimmie Johnson -3 6th Matt Kenseth +1 7th Kurt Busch -1 8th Ryan Newman +2
9th Denny Hamlin +3 10th Clint Bowyer -2. My pick to win the NASCAR Sprint cup race at Sonoma is Marcos Ambrose.
